RABBIT SKIN SALE
VALUES GENERALLY EASIER OFF-SEASON SORTS MAINTAIN PRICES The Dunedin Stock Agents’ and Woolbrokers’ Association (Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., New Zealand Loan and Mercantiie Agency Company, Ltd., Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., and National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd.) reports that approximately 56J tons of rabbit skins were offered at the fortnightly sale held yesterday. Competition was again keen and well spread, but even so the prices for good winter skins again depreciated in values. Bucks were down from 6d to Is per lb, whilst the decline for does was slightly greater than this. Bloodstained lots were also easier in value, and a decrease of approximately 30d per lb was recorded for doe skins of this description. In all off-season sorts prices were par to a shade firmer than late prevailing rates. The Rabbit Skin Committee has announced the payment of the subsidy on milky doe skins and small skins as from the next sale, provided they qualify for such payment by being thoroughly dry and fatted. The following is the range of prices:— Small, 30d to per lb; runners, 54d; summers, 83id to 88d; racks, 82d to 83Jd; first milky, 134 d to 138 d; second milky, 94id to 96d; autumn bloodstained, IOOd to 112 d; second winter bucks, bloodstained, 128 d to 134 d; second winter does, bloodstained, 129 d to 144 d; first winter bucks, bloodstained, 164 d to 168 d; first winter does, bloodstained, 144 d to 151 d; first spring bucks, 113 d to 115 d; first spring does, 131 d to 139 d; second spring bucks, 94d to 97d; second spring does, 115 d to 117 d; furrier does, 206 d to 212 d; outgoing winter bucks, 121 d to 122 d; outgoing winter does. 163 d to 168 d; third winter bucks, 133 d to 144 d; third winter does, 173 d to 178 d; second winter bucks, 174 d to 133 d; second winter does, 207 d to 219 d; first winter bucks, 193 d to 194 d; first winter does, 230 d to 238 d; third broken, 82d to 85d; second broken, 96Jd to 99£d; first broken, 128 d to 134 d; third winter black, IOOd to 120 d; second winter black, 160 d to 183 d; first winter black, 240 d; third winter fawn. 78d to 79Ja; second winter fawn, 124 d to 155 d; first winter fawn, 240 d to 255 d; first hareskins, 136 d to 142 d; second hareskins, 129 a to 130 d; horsehair, 34Jd to 35Jd; first ferrets, large, 19s 7d to 20s each; first ferrets, small, 10s to 12s each; second ferrets, 2s 4d to 8s 5d each; first ferrets, white, 18s to 20s lid; second ferrets, white, 2s to 4s each; first stoat, 9s lOd to 10s 4d each; second stoat, 2s to 2s 6d each; large catskins, 3s 6d each; red deerskins, 8s 8d per lb; fallow deerskins, 6s 4d per lb. The next sale is scheduled for September 10, and for inclusion skins must be received by September 3.
