WAR REGULATIONS RESCINDED

(Rec. 9 p.m.) OTTAWA, Aug. 15The Minister of Labour, Mr H. Mitchell, announced in the House of Commons that national registration would be discontinued from to-day. There will be no further prosecutions for infractions, and pending cases will be dropped. The Minister of Defence, Mr D. C- Abbott, announced that Canada’s 14,000 absentees and deserters will be written off the service books without the rights, privileges or benefits to which members of armed forces are normally entitled. The Minister of Reconstruction. Mr C. D. Howe, announced that regulations covering the sale of new passenger cars and trucks are to be rescinded.
