A GENEROUS RESPONSE The- amount raised by the Dunedin Community Sing Committee for its .Food for Britain Fund by the holding of successive Scottish, Irish and English days, is £290.

A large audience was present in the Strand Theatre yesterday on the occasion of English Day, and an attraction was the appearance of Miss Vincente Major, leading lady in the Dunedin Opeiatic Society’s' production, " Firefly " Her singing of Giannia Mia,” “A Star Fell from Heaven,” and ’ Baird o’ Cockpen ” was enthusiastically r-ceived. The accompanist was Mrs J. Kirk-Burnand. Miss Major, who said she was pleased to help such an appeal, was thanked by the leader, Mr H. P. Desmoulins, and presented with a flora] tribute by Mr J F Himburg.
