HOUSE ADJOURNS
ORDER PAPER CLEARED BILLS AND REPORTS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. A good clearance was made from the order paper by the House of Representatives to-day when four Bills were discussed and passed. They were the Stock Remedies Amendment Bill, the Stock Foods Bill, the Marriage Amendment Bill, and the United Nations Bill. Consideration was also gven to departmental reports and papers. The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and Mr R. M. Algie (Oppn.,, Remuera) were the only speakers in the debate on the United Nations Bill, which empowers the Governor-General in Council to make regulations to enable New Zealand to fulfil the obligations relating to economic sanctions undertaken by it under the Charter of the United Nations.
The reports of the Internal Marketing. Division and the Representation Commission were also discussed.
Information was sought by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, during the consideration of the latter report as to the procedure to be followed for recording the votes of members of the New Zealand Force in Japan The Prime Minister said that any representations could be discussed with the chief electoral officer, Mr G. A. Harper. The House rose at 5.30 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. next Wednesday.
