ROXBURGH TENNIS COURTS

Sir, —I was interested to read in a recent issue a letter referring in somewhat uncomplimentary terms to the state of the tennis courts in Roxburgh. I have waited vainly for some reply, but apparently no one is sufficiently concerned about tennis or the town's amenities to do so. It is a fact that the courts are in a deplorable condition. There are many young players coming on whose interests should be studied. Visitors to the town have made bitter comments on the state of the courts. In spite of this, the Mayor insists that they are a town asset, so possibly the Borough Council is contemplating giving some assistance. Even if this is the case, it would seem that the committee of the Tennis Club is as sleepy and uninterested as your correspondent accuses the Borough Council of being.—l am, etc.. Interested. Roxburgh, August 7.
