REMARKABLE BOWLING

T. L. PRITCHARD

NEW ZEALANDER IN ENGLAND

“ FASTEST, SINCE LARWOOD ”

(N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent)

(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 12. Tom Pritchard, the 28-year-old New Zealander qualifying for Warwickshire, supported the view held by many good judges that he is the fastest bowler seen in England since Larwood by some superb bowling against India at Edgbaston on August 9, says the Daily Telegraph. Pritchard had the condi-

tions all against him. The greasy ball, a wicket varying from dead to easypaced were not encouraging to a bowler making his first appearance in English first-class cricket. Despite these handicaps, Pritchard, working up a fine pace, claimed Hazare, Mankad and Mahomed in seven balls without conceding a run. He returned figures of 10 overs, 6 maidens, 9 runs, 3 wickets, in an hour’s spell. His final analysis, 43 overs, 19 maidens, 46 runs, 4 wickets, reflects the accuracy with which he bowled.
