ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB
RETURNED MEMBERS REUNION Some 40 returned service members of the Athletic Football Club were entertained at a social evening In the Peter Pan Theatre on Saturday night. The president (Mr D. Burns) presided. In proposing the toast to the R.S.A. team Mr W. Brown commented on the excellent record of the Athletic Football Club in the services. Approximately 220 members of the club had served overseas, he said, and altogether the service record of the club was a very commendable one. The following toast list was honoured; “ The King “ Returned Members and Members pf J. Force” (Mr D. Burns); North Otago Rugby Union ” (Mr R. Young—Mr J. Firman); "R.S.A.” (Mr J. Firman—Mr J. Benson); ’’R.S.A. Team” (Mr W. Brown—Mr* F. Ericson); “The Referees” (Mr J. Benson—Mr J. Palmer); •• Athletic FootbalL Club ” (Mr Rex Miller —Mr D. Burns), and “The Chairman” (Mr R. Turvey). A bright programme was presented during the evening, the following contributing Items:—Messrs L. Collett, L. Grant, N. Dick, R. Miller and R. Mclntosh. Mr R. Rae was the accompanist.
