COMMITTEE IN AUSTRALIA ADVISORY FUNCTIONS ONLY (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Aug. 9. The Prime Minister, Mr J. B. Chifley, will set up a committee of employers and employees to inquire into the basic wage. The committee is to be established on the understanding that no recommendations by it will have legal standing, that under the Constitution no power exists in the Federal Parliament to implement the committee’s findings, and that the basic wage must finally be determined by the Arbitration Court.
