Jottings Findon has been working well since his. arrival at Riccarton, and now looks more solid and in better racing shape than previously. The fact that Boolamskee has not been raced over hurdles for soma considerable time has caused him to drift from favour for the Grand National Hurdles.

Lance Wing has some good winning form to his credit and now looks in good shape to repeat it. He and Royal Chance have both been Working well since their arrival at Riccarton.

If Night Prince could be forgiven for his fall at the first of the stand doubles in the Grand National Steeplechase, he would be entitled to a good chance in the Beaufort Steeplechase. Bridge Acre will be improved by her race in the Paparua Handicap. She had to be stopped in her work prior to the meeting. Tiger Tan displayed good form last season and ran a solid race in the Winter Cup. Soneri and Leigh Barton may be out of his way in the August Handicap. Western Front is in good firm racing shape, and the distance in the Islington Handicap will suit him better than that of the Winter Cup

The two-year-old parade at Riccarton to-day will be run in three divisions, and 26 youngsters will go to the post. Their Introduction to the racing public will form an interesting feature of the meeting. The Royal Chief gelding Concrete has good looks and a reputation which he will have a chance to live up to in the Aylesbury Handicap to-day. Others in the same race with a reputation are Kirkella. a brother to Lord Advocate and Royal Robe. Frances is sure to be in favour if produced in the Woolston Handicap, and is expected to shape well against the strongest opposition she has met up to date. The best of the opposition may come from the improving Knight Crusader. Hart Royal, and Special Flight. Sphere finished fifth in the Jumpers’ Flat at Riccarton. and on paper holds an outside chance in the Grand National Hurdles. He will meet Prize Ring on 141 b, Blue Title on 241 b, Bramble Song on 201 b, and Brantome on no less than 441 b better terms

Foxchase is usually a bit slow in the early part of a race, but he began well in the Winter Cup. and finished close t( the placed lot. On that 'form he may shape well in the Islington Handicap, as the distance will suit him. Foxchase has displayed his best form when the sting is out of the ground but he has been shaping well on firm going In his work a 1 F'ccarton.

A Successful Trainer The former New Zealander, Lou Robertson, has built up an outstanding record as a trainer, in Melbourne The winnings of his horses since the 1938-39 season aggregate £122,594: His best season in this period was 1943-44 when his team won £25.752. while in the season just concluded he won £17.796 Robertson first came into prominence as a trainer of light-harness horses, and his wins included the Trotting Cup with Birchmark. L. Robertson and his brother, A Robertson, then established the Allandale stock farm stud with Abbey Bells and attractively-bred stock imported from the United States. The stud, which was owned by the Tye brothers was later changed over to thoroughbreds, but it H id not have a long existence. L Robertson 'hen confined himself to training thoroughbreds and became one of the most successful trainers in Victoria.
