MIDDLEMARCH

LODGE MEETING Sister A. Keast presided over the bestattended meeting for many years of the Loyal Middlemarch Lodge on Monday night. The principal business was to complete arrangements for the fortieth anniversary celebrations. The Social Committee' reported that all arrangements were complete for the anniversary ball on August 16 and the social on August 17 The Dunedin lodges would be represented at the ball, and members from Ranfurly and Naseby would attend the social. A church parade will be held on August 18, and the Strath-Taieri Pipe Band will attend. BOWLING The annual meeting of the Bowling Club was held in the A. and P. Hall committee room, when there was a good attendance of members. The club recorded a successful year, but was unfortunate in losing its secretary, Mr A. Murphy, owing to his transfer. The retiring president, Mr J. Slater, had capably presided over the club during the past two seasons. , , The following committee was elected:— President, Mr J. Aubrey: vice-president, Mr R. Strang: secretary, Mr C V. Martin; committee—Messrs J. Slater, A. Murray, P. Murphy. G. Peat, J. East, L. Cameron, R Ayson, G. McDonald. J. Pacey. T. Tisdall and M. McMaster.
