ERECTION OF TEMPORARY THEATRE Tenders have been received by the Otago Hospital Board for the erection of a temporary operating theatre and corridor at the Dunedin Hospital and for the demolition “of the existing No. 1 thcfltrG When the latter building is removed it will permit the erection of the new four-storey theatre and ward block facing Frederick street, and will really be the first step in the erection of the largest hospital wing on the site. Tenders for the new theatre and ward block will be called during the next month. The architects for both contracts are Messrs Mason and Wales. The section of the Nurses’ Home which is to be remodelled has been handed over to the contractors, Messrs Love Construction Company, and a large number of men are at present employed in dismantling the existing block in Castle street. Work on the new section of the home has been retarded owing to the lack of reinforcing steel required for the structure. The nurses formerly m occupation of this section of the building have been transferred to Waverley and to the new annexe in the hospital grounds.
