SYDNEY’S DRY SPELL

RECORD WITHIN SIGHT SYDNEY, Aug. 8. To-day is Sydney's twenty-ninth consecutive day without appreciable rain. If no rain falls before Tuesday an alltime record for the metropolitan area will be established. The present dry spell is a record for consecutive rainless days in July and August. The previous record was 23 dry days from July 25 to August 16, 1894. The highest number of consecutive rainless days on record for Sydney is 32, from May 7 to June 7, 1917.
