WELFARE OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The monthly meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held in the committee room of the Town Hall on Monday last, there being present—Dr McKinnon (president, in the chair). Mesdames Allen, Porteous, Aslin, Sister Elinor, Major Hanneford, Canon W A. Curzon-Siggers, Mr A. Steven, and the secretary, Miss Coe-Smith. Remits for the conference to be held at Dunedin in November were adopted. The secretary’s report was read and discussed. Maintenance and separation cases were stated to be steadily increasing.
