HIGHLAND PIPE BAND

MONTHLY MEETING Mr V. E. Doran (president) was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the North Otago Highland Pipe Band, when correspondence was received from the Victorian Highland Pipe Band (Australia) relating to its proposed goodwill tour of New Zealand towards the end of September of this year. Three of Australia’s champion dancers would accompany the band, and it was decided to extend an invitation for Oamaru to be included, in the band’s itinerary. The offer of a well-wisher to sponsor a dance in aid of the band, funds was accepted with thanks. Drummer J. G. Stevenson reported on the annual meeting of the Otago Centre of the Pipe Bands' Association, and the secretary (Mr J. Stevenson) was congratulated on his re-election as a vice-presi-dent of the Otago Centre. A minute of appreciation of the work of the patron (Mr T. W. Patterson) and helpers during the recent annual reunion whs recorded.

Seventeen new honorary members were elected, and the resignation of one was accepted with regret.
