GRAIN MARKET

MILLING WHEAT DELIVERIES SHIPMENTS OF POTATOES Deliveries of milling wheat are now practically finished for the season, and in the main what is coming in is not suitable for milling and is being taken for fowl feed. The stocks held by millers are gradually diminishing, and these will be worked off before the next season’s wheat is available. A fair quantity of overseas-grown wheat will be required in due course for milling in New Zealand. Flour, Bran, etc. Flour: 200’s, £l3 15s 6d; 100’s, £l4 12s 6d; 50’s, £l4 17s 6d; 25’s, £ls 7s 6d. Pollard, £6 15s per ton of 20001 b. Bran, £5 5s per ton of 20001 b. Oatmeal, 2001 b sacks, £25 10s 6d per ton; 251 b loose, £27 0s 6d, packed in sacks of eight, £27- 10s 6d. Market for White Oats White oats continue in good demand, patricularly from the North Island. The lack of shipping space, however, is holding up deliveries to that quarter, and as a consequence, the congestion of stocks of produce lines in the local stores continues to cause concern. Good quality dun oats meet with a ready sale, but black oats continue to be neglected. Supplies of chaff are greater than the local demand, and here again the want of shipping space to the North Island is creating difficulties. Values remain unchanged at £7 5s a ton for good bright oaten sheaf chaff, ex truck, Dunedin, sacks extra. Potatoes for the North A considerable quantity of potatoes was shipped to the North Island by the Waipiata, enabling long standing orders to be executed. Ample stocks are available for the local distributing trade, and taking the position as it stands to-day, there should be no lack of potatoes until the new season’s tubers come on the market. Seed Markets Unchanged There is little change in the seed markets. Good quality white clover. Chewings fescue, brown top and crested dogstail are still inquired for and the market remains firm. The position in regard to Montgomery red clover, cocksfoot and ryegrass remains unchanged from last week and there is still little inquiry for these varieties.
