TROTTING INVESTMENTS

AN UNFAIR COMPARISON (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. Referring, to the Press Association message from Auckland claiming a Dominion totalisator record for the Auckland Trotting Club for the 194546 season, Mr H. E. Goggin, secretary of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, said that the comparison with his club’s totalisator turnover for the season was not a fair one. Mr Goggin pointed out that the Auckland Trotting Club had raced on 12 days, which included a permit which the Wellington Trotting Club could not use, whereas the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club had raced on only eight days. The average Investments per day at the Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meetings were £150,712 in comparison with an average of £129,899 at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meetings.
