GAS DANGER

FAILURE TO TURN TAPS ONE FATALITY RECORDED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 25. The gas restrictions now operating in Auckland have brought a potential danger into the domestic lives of householders. In several instances gas poisoning has occurred recently through householders forgetting to turn off the gas taps and jets when the gas supply has been turned off at the source, and there has been one fatality.

The gas is turned off from 13.3 Q p.m. until 5.30 a.m., and there, is danger of sleeping householders being gassed in the early morning through neglect to turn off the taps on the previous evening. The gas company emphasised today that consumers should ensure that their gas meters are turned off as soon as the gas restriction period begins to operate.
