AUSTRALIANS AT GIBRALTAR
Sir, —As an Australian, with my own kith and kin in the Australian fighting forces, I was distressed and angered at the reported conduct of the Australians at Gibralter. For these men, specially selected to represent their country because of courageous service in the war, had shamed her good name. Nor does it imnrove matters to be told that, of course. Australians are an undiscinllned lot. for a Similar action at Fremantle is reported of New Zealand troops, and from the same cause. It was the cause that angered me. for the cause was alcohol, that poisonous drug which, however, diluted, and under whatever name it is used, is responsible for so many tragedies, riots, crimes, and disasters Many of us hold strongly that in the best interests of man it should be dealt with by law exactly as its companion poisonous drugs, cocaine, heroin etc., and for this reason we work and vote for Prohibition.—l am, etc., Dunedin, July 8. S. F. Hunter.
