HIGH PRICES FOR CAMERAS

If English cameras come to New Zealand soon—and some dealers in photographic supplies say that they will be here shortly—their prices will be far above the prices of * similar before the war. An English box camera that sold in the Dominion for £1 12s 6d, for instance, will cost £3 17s 6d. Catalogues from England show that throughout the range of models prices

are going to be at least twice what they were in pre-war days. Some are even three times as high. One model, designed primarily for the use of commando troops in v/ar-time, is expected to retail in New Zealand at between £9O and £IOO. Dealers are not optimistic regarding a liberal supply of films. It is possible that these may be limited for some time, but there is not likely to be a famine. At the moment there is a shortage.
