TROTTING NOTES
By Sentinel Sir Julien is an example of “hope springs eternal ” as he has been racing for years with a modicum of success. The scratching pen was freely used in connection with the light harness events at Timaru as no fewer than eight were struck out of the 13 on the card for the Beaconsfield Trot. Veritas struck off in the Beaconsfield Trot as if he was going to win all the way, but he commenced to fade after leading for about half the journey. The Wellington Trotting Club has asked permission to race again at Trentham and is in a quandary about where to hold a meeting. Trentham will be shut until January. A Double Winner
Money Mate landed a double at Timaru. He won nicely at the first attempt, but did not seem to have much to spare in his second race. He won the first time in 3min 30sec, but it took him 3min 33 2-ssec to win the second time. The going was getting cut up during the progress of the racing.
