SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ MATCH WIN FOR KING’S HIGH Although Christchurch Technical College gave another exhibition of polished Soccer yesterday, the weight and speed of the King’s High School team were too much for the smaller Christchurch players, and the game ended with the score at four goals to two In King’s favour. The outstanding player in solo work on the field was the King’s centre-forward and captain, E. C. George, who, although inclined to hang on to the ball too long, played an excellent game, scoring all of the King’s goals. The first goal was netted by Christchurch after about 10 minutes’ play when Lee, from a melee in front of the Otago goal, scored. King’s attacked strongly, and George soon equalised. The most spectacular play of the day followed when George carried the ball well up the field, cleverly dodged two of the opposing players, and, with a long shot, scored. Shortly before half-time George had scored his third goal, and the spell ended King’s 3 goals, Christchurch 1. Christchurch kept the King’s team in its own half during much of the second spell, although King’s made dangerous sallies several times, one of them culminating In another goal by George. Clarke scored Technical’s second goal, when the Otago goalie, trying to clear, slipped and left the goalmouth open. •The teams were as follows: —Technical College: M. Wylie, G. Carr J. Adam. J Lee K. Poad, C. Cusack, I. Clarke. T McLeary, L. Humm. L. Dickson and B Night. King’s High: G. H. Laune, E. R. Gray. E. C. George, J. P. Struthers. J. C K. Wong, R. E. Patterson, I. E. Patterson, C. W. Newbury, J. B. Cathro, T. W. Jeffrey and R. T. Sanders.
