PRIVY COUNCIL APPEAL
CLAIM BY STEVEDORE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 12 Conditional leave to appeal to the Privy Council was granted in the Court of Appeal to-day to Leslie George Bond, foreman stevedore, of Wellington, the respondents being the Waterfront Control Commission and the Wellington Waterside Employers’ Union. The dispute turns solely on the interpretation to be placed on clauses of the Wellington Foremen Stevedores. Timekeepers, and Permanent Hands’ Award of June. 1944, relating to the payment of wages and overtime lo foremen and stevedores.
In the Supreme Court the appellant claimed from the Commission £142 18s 7}d for the period June 19, 1944, to March 14 1945, in addition to sums already paid to him by the Commission. The claim was dismissed by Mr Justice Blair, and his judgment was upheld by the Court of Appeal. The appellant .then applied for leave lo appeal to the Privy Council, and that application was decided to-day.
