WOMEN’S HOCKEY
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Otago Women’s Hockey Association was held last night, the president (Mrs C. Sonntag) occupying the chair. The annual report, which was moved by the president, said that the association should be congratulated on perhaps the most successful season it had yet enjoyed. For the first time an Otago team won the New Zealand championship outright. Thirty-five teams had taken part in the season’s competition, covering four • grades, and, in spite of a disappointing season so far as the weather was concerned, the standard of play had been high. The game was holding its own in the secondary schools, and the sound coaching had borne fruit, while the sport was also flourishing in the primary schools. Reference was made in the report to the loss the association had suffered in the death of Mrs G. A. Nelson, who was a life members, and had been president of the association for a number of years. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted as follows;—Patron, Mr D. C. Cameron; president, Mrs C. Sonntag; active vice-presidents—Miss R. Warburton, Miss R. Wilson, Mrs C. Quaid, and Mrs C. Welham; 15 honorary vicepresidents were elected; Executive Committee—Mrs Ives, Misses L. Dickson, J. Fraser, J. Graham, N. Smith, and E. Saunders; delegate from Umpires’ Association, Mr J Leith; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Henderson; delegate to New Zealand Women's Hockey Association, Miss A. Yorston; honorary auditor, Mr G. S. Edgar; delegates to Otago Provincial Council of Sport, Mrs J. Sparrow and Miss R. Wilson; delegates to Otago Pioneer Women’s Memorial Association. Mrs C. Sonntag and Mrs C. Quaid.
