RUGBY IN OAMARU
LACK OF PUBLIC SUPPORT Several delegates to the annual meeting of the North Otago Rugby Football Union on Wednesday night referred to the lack of public support and interest in Rugby football in Oamaru. Mr A. W. Marshall stated that during the past season the game had not been receving the support it deserved, and in his opinion it seemed that they would have to revert to the old practice of obtaining the country teams to assist in the town competition. Review of Gate Charges When the question of gate and stand charges came before the meeting the majority of the delegates were of the opinion that the present charges were too low, and they suggested that an increase be made. , x , Mr J. Macmillan (the president) stated that on some Saturdays as many as 10 games were being played at the grounds, and the present gate charge was far too low for the amount and type of sport that could be seen. A recommendation was made to the incoming Management Committee that it should review the charges.
