TIMARU GAS COMPANY
Sales of gas by the company for the year, amounting to £27,398, were very satisfactory, stated the report of the chairman of directors of the Timaru Gas, Coal, and Coke Company, Ltd (Mr J. P Newman), at the annual meeting of the company. Net profit for the year was £738 to which it was proposed to add £4so' transferred from the reserve account to the appropriation account, rnakr Ing £llß6 available for distnbutmn. The directors recommended that a dividend of 3 per cent, for the year be declared, absorbing £ll7O, and carrying forward the balance of £l6, stated the report of the directors. The profit and loss account would have shown a loss of £261 on the year’s working if the Government subsidy of £IOOO had not been granted
