BELGIAN ELECTIONS

SOCIALIST PARTIES SUCCESSFUL (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 18. The Brussels Ministry of the Interior announced that in the general elections for the Chamber of Deputies Christian Socialists captured 85 seats, Socialists 58, Communists 18, Liberals JG, Democratic Union 1. These results do not include Liege Province, returning 24 seats. The party strength in the Senate, with Liege and Antwerp results still to come, is Christian Socialists 38, Socialists 25, Communists 8. and Liberals 3. Liege is a Left Wing stronghold. Mr van Acker, the Socialist leader, was returned.
