WEATHER With the exception of a heavy shower on Saturday morning the district has experienced a particularly dry spell with hot winds from the north-west being prevalent. This weather has had the effect of drying and hardening the abundance of feed that is about the district, and also has allowed the small seed crops to ripen. Many headers are working long hours at present taking advantage of the suitable weather. SMOKE HAZE All day Tuesday there was an unusual smoke haze hanging round the hills. At times the surrounding hills were totally obscured. The smoke appeared to be approaching from the north-west, but its origin is not known.
