REPRESENTATIVE CRICKET
Sir, —I hope that the sole selector, Mr Duncan, will see fit to include some of the Southland players in the team to represent Otago against the Australians. Apart from the fact that' lour at least are worthy of inclusion and would strengthen the Otago side, it would be a fine gesture from Otago to include them, seeing that Southland has been omitted from the Australian team's tour. A writer in the Southland Times mentions the following players as worthy of consideration by the Otago selector: —A. Cutler, C. V Shirley, G. W. Overton, A. G. Pickard and D. M. Dunnett. When referring to Dunnett, the wicket-keeper, it says: “Dunnett, when he represented Canterbury, was considered to have strong claims to a place in a New Zealand team. Now that he has returned to Invercargill he seems to have been forgotten." May I suggest that Hadlee be given the honour of captaining the Otago side against the Australians?—l am, etc., February 13. Interested.
