BEEF VALUES FIRM EASING IN MUTTON PRICES The entries at the Burnside market yesterday in the major sections were of average proportions. The cattle sale, which opened firm, eased somewhat during the middle of the sale but towards the concluding stages there was a sharp rise in values, prices being better by fully 25s a head on the opening rates. The yarding of lambs was somewhat in excess of the requirements of the trade, and after the first two races had been disposed of prices slipped on the opening values. The yarding of sheep was made up mostly of wethers and met with keen competition at the commencement of the sale, and towards the finish there was a decided easing in values. The yarding of store cattle was a small one, and the number of baconers penned did not compare with anything like the fiumbers at the last two sales. Fat cattle.—Approximately 220 head were yarded, and in the entry were two to three trucks of extra quality. The sale for ox opened firm on the rates at the last sale, but cased somewhat during the progress of the auction.
