FORCED LANDING
EIGHTEEN LIVES LOST COURT MARTIAL PENDING (Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Dec. 21. Failure to refuel for the return trip of 2400 miles from Honolulu to California caused an airliner to make_ a forced landing in the Pacific, with 18 fatalities, on November 3. The New York Herald-Tribune’s correspondent says that the flight engineer who allegedly checked the fuel with a rainwet stick and pronounced the tanks filled will be court martialled.
