LEVY ON BANK NOTES BUSINESS PARALYSED LONDON, Dec. 20. Business in Budapest is temporarily paralysed in consequence of a Government order to-day closing all banks as a sequel to an announcement that a 75 per cent, levy would be imposed on high denomination bank notes, stated Reuter’s Budapest correspondent. The levy was to be collected by stamps affixed to the notes. Unstamped notes were to be worthless after January 6.
