OWAKA

HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL The pupils of the secondary department of the Owaka District High School organised a social and dance in the Memorial Hall last Saturday night. There was a large attendance, and the function was very successful. Music was supplied by Miss M. Wood and Mr J. Beath. ' , At a suitable interval the dux medals for the primary and secondary departments were presented to Joyce Harrington and B. Duncan respectively by Dr H. N. Johnson, who congratulated both girls on their performances. Certificates were also presented to pupils of Form 11. The function wa6 brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” BOWLING In an interclul/ competition match played at Owaka last Saturday the home team defeated Milton by 25 points. Of the three rinks Owaka won two and Milton one. In the following detailed scores the names of the Owaka skips appear first:—Beath 28, Campbell 21; Alloo 33, Vidal 14; Wilson 17. Cuff 18.
