The time-honoured and popular Dun-! edin Cup meeting will be opened to-! day with an attractive card. The ex-; cellent response from owners will! naturally encourage the club to continue to cater for owners and the: sporting public on progressive lines,| with programmes that practically com-! mand patronage because of their! attractiveness and the value of the* stakes. Programmes of this type would 1 assuredly place the meeting on such; a sound’ foundation that it would bei able to withstand any adversity that} might crop up in the future. The pro-: gramme for this year’s meeting is so! well endowed that it will arouse aj widespread sporting interest and the. appreciation of owners. , j The Juvenile Handicap I Naughty Lady, who is top-weight in! the Juvenile Handicap, has started five times. She was unplaced in thej McLean Stakes, and followed with' a! second to Faithful Pal at Winton. At; Riccarton, with 7.4, she was third to* Palm Bearer 7.9 i and Blue Simon 7.13. in the Spring Nursery Handicap, two. lengths and a-half away from thei winner in 58 2-ssec. Palm Bearer 8.7’ beat Repudiate 8.5 and Naughty Lady: 7.6 in the Pioneer Handicap when la j neck and half a length separated'the; placed lot in lmin 0 3-ssec. Naughty Lady then won the Acorn Stakes with] 7.7 from Blue Tie 7.8 and Privilege; 8.8 in lmin 0 3-ssec. Lakhnau 7.6 wasj fourth, and the unplaced lot included; Winning Bat, Royal Anne and Prana, who are also engaged in the Juvenile] Handicap. ' 1 Stagestruck was third to Lady Fane: and Lakhnau in the McLean Stakes.; Faites vos Jeux has two unplaced per-, formances. and Sir Raimond has ap-| peared twice without success, and the others engaged have no public form.' to recommend them.
