OTAGO POWER BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly, meeting of the' Otago Electric Power Board, held at Milton, was attended by Messrs W. Lee (chairman), G. Moore, W. Cameron, T. A. Lowis, D. J. Ireland, R. A. Michelle, A. Anderson and J. R'. Copland. The secretary reported that the receipts for the month totalled £5691 17s, including £5285 Is lOd from electricity sales and £366 11s Id from sundry debtors. The expenditure amounted to £2826 8s Bd. Accounts passed for payment totalled £4802 9s lid. Rural Reticulation The secretary of the Electric Power Boards’ Association wrote asking for particulars regarding the reticulation of. rural districts in order that no delay might occur when the national Rural Electrification Council was set up under the Bill recently passed.—The secretary reported that he and the engineer had gone into the matter and they estimated that about 250 miles of line would be required. This was as far as they could judge in the meantime, but further particulars could be forwarded later. Power Stoppage A complaint was received from the BaL clutha Borough Council regarding a stoppage of power on" November 28, when there was no power for about seven hours. . —The engineer explained that there had been difficulty in locating the fault and the gang had to be called from another job to do the work. The establishment of a standby plant 'was not warranted, as the expense would be too great for all the benefit that would result. The position would be better when the Public Works line was available apd it was hoped that this would be in use before the winter.—lt was decided to reply to the council’s letter in. terms of the engineer’s explanation.
