NEW PERMANENT HEAD

PRIME MINISTER’S DEPARTMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. Mr A D. Mclntosh, who has been secretary of the War Cabinet throughout the war, has been appointed permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department, in succession to Mr C. A. Jeffery. Mr Mclntosh was educated in Marlborough, and graduated M.A. at Victoria University, Wellington. He was appointed to the Labour Department library, and later joined the Parliamentary Library staff. He was awarded a Carnegie travelling scholarship in library work, and visited the United States and Europe. On his return he was appointed to the Prime Minister’s Department as research officer by Mr G W Forbes, the then Prime Minister. He was later appointed secretary of the Department of External Affairs, and will retain that position with his new appointment.
