COUNTY OF WAIKOUAITI

MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL

The monthly meeting o£ the Waikouaiti County Council, held on Monday, was attended by Crs C. T. McCallum (in the chair), K. B. Ferguson, W. Harris, A. A. Reid. G. P. Reid, and S. Wilkinson. An application by Mr J. G. Smith tor metal on Ridge street, Purakanui, was referred to the inspector for a report. Mrs Beaumont wrote asking for improvements to the road in front of the Karitane Cemetery.—lt was decided to put the work in hand. Mr T. F. Broad applied for metal for the road leading off the Purakanui road just above the Cemetery.—To be attended to when grader is in the district. The Sawyers’ Bay Progress League wrote asking for a rubbish tip and suggesting that application be made to use the Port Chalmers Borough tip.—lt was decided to place the request before the Port Chalmers Council. The Waihemo County Council’s offer to purchase the Acme stone crusher was accepted. The clerk was instructed to write to the Public Works Department regarding the delay in the payment of the subsidy for flood damage at Waitati. Accounts amounting to £Bl6 7s lOd were passed for payment.
