“ELIJAH”
Music lovers have always welcomed the opportunity of hearing Mendelssohn's popular oratorio, “ Elijah,” and the special attractions which will be featured in the coming performance by the Dunedin Choral Society in the Town Hall on Tuesday. October 2, promise to make this an outstanding event. The Invercargill Musical Union, which performed this work in Invercargill earlier this year, has accepted an invitation to take part, and the combined choir will be heard to advantage in the delightful choruses. The important baritone role will be sung by Mr Denis Dowling:, the wellknown Ranfurly singer, who is at present in New Zealand on ieave from the British Army. Other leading soloists will be Miss Dora Drake, Miss Mary Pratt, and Mr Thomas E. West, of Christchurch. The performance will be under the direction of Mr Alfred Walmsley, conductor of the Invercargill Musical Union.
