IMPROVED PRICES FOR FAT SHEEP (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 4. Values for all classes of fat sheep at the Lorneville stock sale to-day showed an improvement of 2s a head compared with last week's prices. Good-quality medium-weight wethers realised 52s to 565; handy-weights, 48s to 50s; lightweights, 40s to 445; and unfinished sorts, 34s to 36s 6d. Good-quality young ewes made up to 455; good-quality ewes, 39s to 41s 6d; light-weights, 34s to 36s 6d; and unfinished sorts, 28s to 31s. Prices for medium-weight cattle and unfinished sorts fell by up to 30s a head, but better quality sorts, which were in short supply, realised prices equal to those ruling last week. Prime-quality bullocks made £2l 10s to £23 10s; good-quality medium-weights, £lB 10s to £2O; lightweights, £ls 10s to £l6 10s; and small, £l3 to £l4 10s. Heavy-weight cows realised up to £l6 15s; medium-weight sorts, £l4 10s; light-weights, £ll to £l2; and unfinished, £8 10s to £9 10s. Handy- * weights sold from £l3 to £l4; lightweights, £ll 10s to £l2 10s; and small and unfinished, £9 to £lO.
