TROTTING NOTES

By Sentinel

The Jewel Pointer gelding Diamond Jim has been sold to an Australian owner. Double Peter will be treated to a short spell and then given a preparation for the Trotting Cup.

Gold Bar has been a winner five times in a Free-for-all. Great Bingen won six of them. Navigate escaped with a few scratches when he fell on the second day at Addington. Although defeated at Addington, Imperial Lady reached a 4min 20 4-ssec record from a 4min 32sec mark. Short of Work At the Metropolitan meeting Bronze Eagle was short of work owing to bad weather prior to the Addington meeting. He will probably be in much improved racing shape in a few weeks' time. Did Not Qualify Knave of Diamonds missed his chance to qualify for the Trotting Cup unless horses assessed at 4.23 become eligible. Preparation for Cup Haughty is now undergoing a fourth preparation for the New Zealand Trotting Cup. She won in 1942 and 1943, but was unplaced last year. Haughty won in 4min 13 4-ssec and in 4min 13 2-ssec. Impartial Sold Impartial has been sold to a patron of F. Smith’s stable at Frankton, and will become a stablemate of Double Peter. Glenville, the dam of Impartial, was got by Oinako—Evelyn (a sister to Emmeline), by Rothschild—lmperialism, by Prince Imperial—Shamrock, by Dexter, from a mare by Hornby, the winner of the New Zealand Derby in 1879.

Parshall The Star-Sun reports that Parshall has had a recurrence of an ailment that interrupted his preparation for the Metropolitan Club’s meeting, and could not fulfil his engagement in the National Handicap. He appears to be quite well again and is being trained for suitable races at the spring and summer meetings. Reinsmanship J. B. Pringle has a gift of getting nervous horses to start from a barrier. He swung Indian Clipper into his stride at the start of tne Lightning Handicap last Saturday and with six furlongs covered, Indian Clipper was in fourth place. Indian Clipper joined In The Mood in the lead three furlongs from home, and approaching the straight drew away from his opponents to win by three lengths in 2min 39 2-ssec for the mile and a-quarter. This is the first time Indian Clipper has left the mark for more than a year. He is a very fast pacer, and is capable of taking a prominent part in the decision of the next New Zealand Trotting Cup.
