HORSE DESTROYED

Shortly before 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon a horse which was being driven in a four-wheeled wagon by Mr J. Ewart, carrier, of Oamaru, took fright at a piece of paper and bolted down the main thoroughfare- past the Post Office, striking a post at the War Memorial. The post was levelled to the ground. The front portion of the wagon was damaged and the horse, while kicking out, cut the back tendon of a foreleg and was later destroyed by Mr A. A. Stock, an S.P.C.A. inspector.
