RAIDS IN WELLINGTON

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 19. Police raids on Wellington bookmakers on Saturday afternoon resulted in the voluntary appearance before Mr W. F Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day of Robert Donaldson, aged 38, a carrier, who was fined £125: John Charles Lindsay Thomson, who was described as having no other occupation and who was fined £25; and Mrs Loyes Marguerite Sands, who was fined £SO.

When the police arrived Donaldson had taken telephone bets totalling £132 15s, and Mrs Sands £127 15s. Donaldson had previously been before (he court.
