NOTES ON THE RACING

Cinderella, Plutocrat, Ascot Blend, Loid Roland, and Joy Rosa were smariest away In the Trial Stakes. Cinderella and Plutocrat led Lord Roland into the straight, and the first-named came on to beat Plutocrat by half a length. Lord Roland was a length away, two lengths in front of Royal Chance, with Joy Rosa next. High-weight Handicap In the High-weight Handicap Gold Lance led into the back with Steward, Big Joe, and Night Pal next. Turning for home Steward joined Gold Lance, •who soon retired. Steward was in charge at the distance and was joined by Court- * dress, Lost Art, and Night Pal. Courtdress stayed on to win by three lengths from Lost Art, who beat Night Pal by a head. Steward was fourth. The Weston Trot Mercury Maid, Dominator, and County Clare were in charge at the end of a lap in the Weston Trot, with Gold Rosette next. The order was much the same along the back, but turning for home Jackie Guy shot to the front and won by four lengths from County Clare, who beat Dominator by two lengths. Sealand was 10 lengths away fourth, and the others were easing up. The Oamaru Cup Fairy Bard played up at the start of the Oamaru Cup, and was left. Good Cast and The Raker led out of the straight from Royal Writ and Lance Wing. Bridgehead moved up and took charge going to out and won by three lengths from Good Cast, The Raker, and Lance Wing when coming to the home turn. At the distance Lance Wing was under pressure, with Bridgehead and The Raker next, and Good Cast came on again. Lance Wing drew out and won by there lengths from Good

Shipmate and Brockie were left when the Novice Handicap field was sent away, and Miss Hula led out from Mazamarch and Sumra. The leaders carried on along the back and up to the home turn, where they were joined by Mister John. Sumra came through on the rails and won by three lengths from Mister John, who beat 1 Honest Sal by two lengths. Miss Hula, Cornucopia, and Receptive were next. Stewards' Handicap In the Stewards’ Handicap Silver Mask and Divorced led along the back from Courtdress, who dropped back at the far turn. Divorced and Silver Mask led Olga’s Choice into the straight. Olga's Choice took charge in the straight and won by a length from Divorced. Eastern Coin was half a length away, and Courtdress was fourth. Redcastle Trot Peter Dale led Great Show, Tom Gundy, and Gold Rosette at the end of half a mile in the Redcastle Trot. The order was the same along the back. Tom Gundy joined Peter Dale coming round the top and then came away to win by two lengths from Jackie Guy, who beat Peter Dale by 10 lengths. Sally Dale and Dominator were next, with the others easing ud. Parkslde Handicap Moneybird was made a good favourite for the Parkside Hack Handicap. St. Nattar led along the back from Plutocrat, Moneybird, and Prize Ring. Moneybird dropped back at the far turn, where St. Nattar had a lead of over three lengtiis. St. Nattar came on to win by four lengths from Moneybird. who beat Plutocrat by I two lengths. Girl Friend, Real Chase, and Velvet Slipper were next.
