Jackie Guy and Quite Evident arc bracketed in the Windsor Trot and the Redeastle Trot at Oamaru to-day. Some young pacers are engaged 'at Oamaru. Amongst them are the three-vear-olds County Clare, by Jack Potts— Queen’s Ccunty; Jackie Guy, by Jacit Potts—Lottie Guy; Courtly, by Dillon Hall—Santa Brigada; Peter Dale, by Sandydale—Margaret Bingen; and Sally Dale, by Sandydale—Gala Pointer. The Canterbury Park Trotting Club s surveyor claims that the north-east corner of the Addington track is almost perfect. Nevertheless, several trainers and drivers have complained to the club that they regard it as dangerous. The club intends to bank the corner after the Easter meeting. At the monthly meeting of the Canterbury Owners and Breeders’ Association the question of the supervision of races from patrol cars was raised by Mr G. R. Hunter, M.L.C., who favoured this system as an improvement on the present method cf supervision by track stewards. Mr E. R. Husband stated that the New Zealand Owners and Breeders’ Association was at the present time considering a suggestion by the Auckland Association that races be watched from the rear of an open truck with a hand rail. Mr Hunter stated that Mr J. P. Stratton had informed him during his visit to New Zealand that this system was considered by those controlling trotting in Western Australia to be a big improvement, and had greatly reduced the number of accidents in trotting there. On the motion of Messrs Husband and Butterfield, it was agreed that the association favour the Introduction of this method provided the truck was equipped with a loud speaker, and a special track was provided for the truck.
