SOCIAL SECURITY ESTIMATES DISCUSSED (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 5. Most of to-day’s sitting of the House of Representatives was occupied with the discussion on the Social Security Estimates. Three items under ’this heading were approved, two of them being under the control of the Minister in Charge of Social Security, Mr W. E. Parry, and the other under the Minister of Health, Mr A. H. Nordmeyer. They Were the vote of £4,500,000. for the Social Security Department, an item of £666,687 for the section of the Social Security Fund administered by Mr Parry, and another of £4,853,000 for the -part of the fund in charge of Mr Nordmeyer. making a total of £10,019,687. Discussion had just begun on the vote for the Health Department when the adjournment was taken at 10.30 p.m. until to-morrow morning.
