CASES BEFORE COMMITTEE The Otago Land Sales Committee— Messrs E. J. Anderson, D. J. Ross, and N. McNamara —held a sitting yesterday. In granting the application of the Perpetual Trustees Estate and Agency Company, Ltd., in the estate of Elizabeth Lethbridge, deceased, for the sale of allotment 51 and part allotment 27, block 2, township of Kew, and part sections 46 and 291 R, block 7, town district, to Albert James Ryan and George Henry Claridge at the original selling price of £3250, the committee made the following condition: —“That the sale be granted at £3250 subject to the condition that tbe order should lie in the Land Sales Court for 14 days to allow of the agreement between the ‘ purchasers and an adjoining owner to be lodged showing the subdivisional work they are about to undertake." Mr I. Fitchett appeared for the applicant, and Mr C. H. Stevens for the purchasers. Sale of Business
Martin George Herbert Kofoed applied for the transfer of his property at Green Island to William Henry Baxter, tbe consideration. being £1450 for the land and buildings and £250 for goodwill. Mr R: C. Rdtherford appeared for the applicant, Mr I. B. Stevenson for the purchaser, and Mr W. L. Miller for the Crown. The applicant said he had been carrying on a pastrycook’s business in partnership with his wife. The property had been purchased on February 15 last for £I3OO. He had spent a good deal on renewing the roof and in repairs to the oven and fire box. He had increased the takings of the business, and his only reason for selling was.illhealtb. Evidence was, given by Mr H. W. Tyrrell, accountant, who estimated tne value of the goodwill at between £l5O and £2OO. He based these figures' on three years’ takings. The committee fixed the value of the land and buildings at -£1350 and the goodwill at £l5O. Applications Approved The following applications relating to properties sold for £IOOO or over were approved:—' James Speight and Co,, Ltd. (in liquidation) to New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., lot 3 and part 4, town of Dunedin; purchase price £2OOO. Henry Gladstone Wooding to Martin Joseph Heffernan, section 2 of 72, block 5, Moeraki subdivision and allotment 6, Mount Royal Estate; purchase price £11,400 (land and buildings £8571, stock £2714, chattels £135). Thomas Matthew McAhan to Ronald Coutts Wilson, part section 7, block 16, town of Dunedin; purchase price, £2250 (reduced to £2150 by’consent). Adam Welch Hall .to . Stewart Matthews Chave, lot 1, part sections 5 and 6, block 35, Clutha district; purchase price £IOOO. t Nellie Scott to Thomas Torrance Cooper and Isabel Cooper, allotment 23, block 2,1 township of Musselburgh; purchase price £llsO. William Wills to Harry John Griffiths and Florence Rona Griffiths, allotment 2, township of Balaclava; purchase price £1350. Marguereta Arrol Cook to Joseph George, lot s,’town of Dunedin; purchase price £1245. William Carrbthers to William Alex-' ander Montgomery, allotment 4, township of Musselburgh; purchase price £1750 (reduced to £I6OO by consent).
