WESTPORT.. DAIRYMEN’S THREAT
DEMAND FOR HIGHER RETURN (P.A.) WESTPORT, June 14. The milk suppliers in the Westport district have threatened to go bn strike unless the local milk supply is placed on an economic basis. This was revealed by a letter from Westport United Dairies, Ltd., which was read at a meeting of the Borough Council to-night. The letter stated that the suppliers had stipulated -June 20 as the date by which adjustments must be made.
No action was taken by the cguncil, but the Mayor (Mr J. M. Robertson) reported that he had sent a telegram to the Minister of Mines, Mr P. C. Webb, who is M.P. for Buller, seeking his co-operation in having the matter dealt with. The council approved of the Mayor’s action. ,
