Sympathy with Mrs A. A. Mays in her husband’s illness and best wishes for his speedy recovei’y to health were expressed at the monthly meeting of the Women's Patriolic Committee. Corporal J. A. Hendy, R.N.Z.A.F., whose parents reside in Greta street, returned with the Pacific furlough draft yesterday morning.

At the Choral Sociely’s rehearsal on Tuesday night, Mr J. H ; nton (conductor) referred to the death at Dunedin of Mr R. J. Meldrum, who for many years had given valued assistance to Oamaru musical organisations as vocalist, pianist, organist, - violinist, and conductor. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried. 6
