THE FISHING TRAGEDY
Sir.—The recovery of tne bodies of the two Port Chalmers fishermen by the police has seemingly brought tc a eios 'he launch tragedy and its very final result. It would seem that these men’s lives were of little value to the community, judging by the efforts that were made by those in authority to send a boat to sea * Do any of the fishermen realise that it might happen to them next? Will the same amount of help be sent? What has happened to the brotherhood’of the sea? Do they depend on the ait force entirely now? I would like to hear the reasons why help was not sent, and who was for it not being sent. What dia the fishermen themselves do to save two of their mates? Ii is well known that men , were ready to go, but those boats were not ‘allowed tc go to sea.—l am, etc., S.O-S, Dunedin. June 14. '
