HOUSE REFUSED TO TENANT WITH ’FAMILY

(PA.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 12. The first prosecution of its kind in the district came before the New Plymouth Court this morning, when a property owner was charged with advertising a house to let, but declining to let it to anyone with children. Ignorance of the law was advanced as an excuse for the offence by the defendant, Arthur Haughey, who pleaded guilty. The magistrate, who said it was clear that the offender was ignorant of the law, convicted him and fined him n and costs (10s).
