GLENORCHY
Change in the Weather.— The weather generally has been settled, with light frosts and warm, pleasant days. Towards the end of the week, however, rain developed and temperatures became colder. Euchre and Dance.—The Social Club on Saturday night conducted the first of a new series of euchre and dance evenings. The winners of the euchre were Mr Johnston and Miss Grant. Cards were followed, by supper and dancing. The music was provided by Mrs Sharpe and the Paradise Orchestra. Personal. —Advice has been received that the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, will arrive in Glenorchy on April 17 for a few days’ fishing.—Mr Wenborne, of Dunedin, has been staying with Mr R. H Bryant, of Kinloch.—Mr and Mrs A. Barr, who have been staying at Routeburn Station, have left for Invercargill. Mr Barr recently relinquished his position as manager of Earnslaw Station. —Leading Aircraftman lan Aitken, R.N.Z.A.F., who is at present on furlough from the Pacific zone, spent last week-end with his father, Mr J. Aitken, of Glenorchy.
